This comprehensive course provides a compelling overview of the issue of child protection looking at the legal, social, and public health implications of missing, runaway and sexually abused children. Response to calls these calls by 9-1-1 centers can play a major role in protecting children from harm. This FREE 1-day special workshop is designed for 9-1-1 call center directors, managers, and others in leadership roles. It is sponsored by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and NAED. Material will be presented on how entire states and local PSAPs are adopting ANSI 1,101.2-2010: Standard for Public Safety Telecommunicators when responding to Calls of Missing, Abducted, and Sexually Exploited Children. The session will specifically describe risks chronic runaways face for human trafficking, sexually transmitted diseases, drug use, gang involvement, crime victimization and academic achievement. Attendance will be limited to the first 50 people who register so early registration is recommended.
